Anycubic d

Since changing over to a duet, I have a number of further changes to my machine. With changing this part I am also forced to upgrade to an E3D V6 all metal hot end, which for me is better, as the one supplied by anycubic is limited to a maximum temperature of degrees Celsius.

Start off by running a tap down the 6 mounting holes in the converter for the smart effector. Then mount the smart effector to the converter and secure in place using 6 of the M3 x 20 screws. They do thick out the underside of the converter a fair bit, but that is because we will use them later to mount the fan brackets. Now mount the converter to the 6 arms using the other 6 M3 x 20 screws and the 6 x M3 nuts.

You can do this either with the arms attached to the machine or with them removed. Then tap the 2 inner holes on each fan bracket using an M3 tap. Mount the fan duct to the to the fan bracket using the M3 x 6 screws, followed by the radial fan to the bracket using M4 x 30 screws. Repeat for the other 2 assemblies. Finally, mount the fans in the correct position under on the smart effector. Each fan should be wired in parallel and plugged into the part cooling fan port on the smart effector.

See below for photos of it installed. For the wiring on the predator to the smart effector, I actually ripped out what was originally there and installed a new harness. This is due to requiring extra cables etc. Also remember to make the changes to the firmware for the probe and to retune the hotend using M Here you go. You should have 4 cables, pin numbers 5 to 8 on the 8 pin molex connector.

They connect to the z probe connector on the duet. Wiring diagram for that is here. Hi, thanks for the quick replies. I got all the material to proceed with the changes. I saw that you installed 3 fans for cooling the walls. Hi jay. Do you have any Comparison prints from the stock effector to the Duet.

I know you have done some changes in-between like the arms and such. Just wondering if you are happy with the improvement mods? Hi Ryan, I have a benchy or two which I printed before I upgraded everything so I will print another one tonight and then do a small write up.

Hopefully, this should answer your questions. Oh thats great would love to see the difference. Also, What IS the stock print head on the predator?Skip to content. Logout Register. It works fine with Cura but my favorite slicer Simplify3d is giving me many issues: 1. With default process settings, it heats up the bed and then starts heating up the extruder. However, it attempts to print immediately without waiting for the extruder to reach its set temperature.

Anycubic Linear Plus Kossel 3D Printer V2

It waits for the bed but not the extruder. Under the Temperature tab of the process settings, if I disable "wait for temperature controller to stabilize before beginning build", it just makes this worse and starts printing before anything is heated up properly.

This should be correct as mm on a side is the largest square that can be inscribed within a mm diameter circle, which is the true print bed area of this printer mm dia, mm height.

As far as I can tell this should be correct, but when the print begins it thinks the Z is set at the max of mm. It attempts to print in the air I could try to change the offset but don't want to risk this crashing into my new bed. Anyway, it would be great if Simplify3d could produce a profile for this interesting new printer. I sadly checked that there are no preset profile for this machine in S3D.

Could you please tell me if you solved your issues? Could you share your machine settings? Thanks in advance!! Best regards, Carlos. I also had the problem that the generated gcode started printing before the extruder was heated up but I assume it was because the option "Wait for temperature controller to stabilize In the attached profile this option should already be enabled. Addition: I can confirm that with the option enabled the printer now waits until the extruder is heated up.

Printing with the profile now works without problems for me. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. Last edited by eso on Sat Jun 15, am, edited 1 time in total.

You do not set the build volume of the X and Y axis to mm for a mm build volume on a delt printer. While this may be the size of a cube that you can print inside of this size circle, the fact that it is a delt machine profile means that it knows to print in a cylindrical build volume with the sizes you set up for the X and Y-axis.

So be sure to set your X and Y-Axis to mm and your Z to mm! As for the proper machine setup, send an email to support simplify3d. This machine is essentially a much larger version of the popular Anycubic i3 Mega, but does it live up to its legacy?

We really love this print bed coating and so do most customers.

No matter what filament you print with, the Ultrabase makes things simple. We were also impressed with how well the print bed maintained temperature despite its larger size. The MEGA X achieves resolutions between and microns, resulting in above-average print results with the right settings. For those who want to push the limits of this printer, the MEGA X can also be easily upgraded with new components and printable mods. Just take, for example, the value of the included accessory bundle.

You get various tools like tweezers and pliers, a full 2. The printer itself is also made of heavy aluminum and construction quality feels built to last. Finally, it includes many convenience features customers have come to expect like filament detection and resume print functions, as well as a snappy touch screen interface. To get the best results when 3D printing, the machine itself must be solid.

You want all your axis to be stable and for the frame to be tight and secure. The frame feels sturdy and solid with no wiggling or uneven parts. Additionally, the Y and Z axis have been reinforced with dual-rod designs which greatly improve the stability of the print bed and extruder.

This is a smart move from Anycubic, especially with such a large printer. Of course, nothing is perfect. The spool holder is also in an awkward position, requiring filament to go up, over, and down into the extruder.

We would have preferred to see a top-loaded filament holder for this model, but these are small details which can be overlooked. They are fiercely dedicated to customer satisfaction and aftercare.

Should you need troubleshooting assistance, replacement parts, or if you have questions or complaints, the Anycubic team are standing by with a fast response. Most customers hear back within hours after sending an email to Anycubic support.

The bowden extrudercoupled with the awkward placement of the filament holder, mean that that MEGA X has trouble especially with fast retraction.Due to the way the kit has been put together, there are very few steps to the process. You put the uprights on the top part, attach the bottom parts and then install the effector. Job done. The manual supplied by Anycubic is very detailed for each step.

They also have a video you can watch and follow which details each of the steps. It definitely puts this printer in the newbie category.

Once assembled, the next thing to do is load some filament and calibrating the bed. I loaded the filament in as far as possible, rather than just into the extruder as the manual suggests. Before you start to print anything, I would suggest cleaning the bed. Heat the bed up to degrees Celsius and let it sit there for 5 or 10 mins.

You may notice a chemical smell but this is normal. Then get yourself some cleaning alcohol and a cloth and wipe the bed. There seems to be some sort of film left on the bed from the manufacturing process which prevents the filament from sticking. On to calibration then. I personally am impressed by Anycubics method of calibration on their printers. The only downside is that you have to manually fit the switch to run a calibration.

As part of the process, you have to set the distance between the hot end and the bed using a piece of paper. Once set, you then fit the switch and it goes through the levelling process. But every time you want to level the bed you have to go through the process of the paper check with the hot end. The whole levelling process also seems to be the wrong way round. The typical process is level, remove the switch, lower the head to the bed and check the offset, adjust if necessary and then relevel.

For this firmware you set the nozzle position, level the bed and then adjust the nozzle head during the first print. All the calibration completed, I printed the calibration test piece. One thing I will say though if you watch the video below is that the flying extruder vibrates a lot when on the very outskirts of the bed.

The manual comes with some suggested settings for Cura. This means all of the screenshots are out of date. The first thing I decided to print was a calibration cube, just to see how it looks. It has some overhangs etc and I find that square things tend to suffer with ghosting from acceleration and jerk.

It looks better in person. I think what I need to do is tighten the belts etc. But as a first print, I think its very good. I will say it now, this printer is very noisy. Straight away you will notice that the fan for the power supply is on all the time. It took me back to my first printer about 8 or 9 years ago.Note : This 3D Printer is mostly assembled, no soldering required.
